Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. The fascia surrounds every bone, muscle, nerve, blood vessel and organ of the body all the way down to the cellular level. Fascial restrictions can exert tremendous tensile forces on structures. which has been measured to be more than two thousand pounds per square inch . This amount of pressure on structures within the body can cause significant dysfunction such as neurological disorders and functional disorders of swallowing, including TMJ dysfunction, and speech delays or disorders. Fascial restricts are a result of trauma to the body which then have a cumulative effect over time. Releasing these restrictions results in increased function and decreased pain.
